Doggy Tote Bag

You may have noticed that I didn’t blog last week and there was a genuine reason for that.

You see it was Jo’s birthday, (Jo is a friend of mine) and her present was the item to be featured in my blog.

As she reads my blog, I didn’t want to spoil the surprise.

What did you make? I hear you ask.

Well, Jo is the proud owner of a little dachshund, and last year at a Quilt Guild meeting they had a remnant of fabric with sausage dogs on.

I had to have it!

Of course then I had to come up with something to make from it. As usual I headed to Pinterest where I conveniently have a board named “Bags of Bags”.

I decided on a tote bag, as you can never have too many, especially when they’re this cute.

I used the free pattern for the “three fabric, ten step tote bag” on the website sew mccool.com. But as you’ll see I only used two fabrics.

The fabric cut out ready to start. How cute are those dogs?

Interfaced fabric.
Interfacing added to fabric.

The handles in their various stages.

Right sides together the inner and outer are pinned together ready for sewing.

The finished bag.

I was so pleased with how the bag looked, and the birthday girl was delighted with her gift.
